24 Jun Young Warriors on the Rise in Boston
“I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. ”
1 John 2:14
As we see in the passage above, God most certainly calls the young men in his Kingdom to be strong, to get out on the front lines, and to fight and overcome the evil one! And so, here in Boston, even the young men are training to be warriors for the Lord.
This past Spring we started a Warrior group in our campus ministry. We wanted to really get on the edge, so we planned our meetings Saturday mornings at 6:00AM. At some point in their lives, young men need to learn how to get up and get going early in the morning, just like Jesus did. So, on five different Saturdays this Spring, we met in my apartment, ate a bunch of unhealthy but delicious cereal, and talked about becoming Warriors.
Some of the topics we studied: boldness, courage, humility, train-ability, being prayer-warriors, character, holiness, deep convictions – and much more. All of these are essential to be Warriors in God’s Kingdom. And so each week 20-30 young men from Boston University, Northeastern University, Boston College, Tufts University, MIT, UMass Boston, and many more campuses gathered to train and study the Word.
I hope it encourages men everywhere to know that the Lord is rousing His young warriors here in Boston!
